Healthy Eating Breakfast Recipe: Chia

Chia seeds apparently, could very well be deserving of the title superfood, as they are said to be among the healthiest foods on the planet,  loaded with nutrients that can be of benefits to both mind and body.

Just 1 ounce (28 grams) serving of chia seeds contains
  • Fibre: 11 grams.
  • Protein: 4 grams.
  • Fat: 9 grams (5 of which are Omega-3
  • Calcium: 18% of the RDA.
  • Manganese: 30% of the RDA.
  • Magnesium: 30% of the RDA.
  • Phosphorus: 27% of the RDA.
They also contain a decent amount of Zinc, Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Potassium, Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) and Vitamin B2, and are full of antioxidants, could help with weight management, type 2 diabetes, and improve sports performance,  just to name a few,  it's a tiny seed that packs a mighty punch and well worth giving it some love.

They are a strange little seed, look a bit like poppy seeds when dry, but when soaked overnight, swell and resembles tapioca at best and at worst frog spawn, but actually creates a lovely thick consistency rather like a yogurt, I soaked mine in coconut milk and coconut water, then added some vanilla extract and topped with strawberries and blueberries, extremely simple to do, makes for a quick breakfast in the morning, and is packed with loads of goodness.
