Introducing Wireless Charging From IKEA.

All images IKEA

This, I think is a pure stroke of genius from IKEA, lamps and side tables with built in wireless  ability to charge your  smart phone, I've lost count of how many times I have had to go in search of my charger, someone borrows it, or I've absentmindedly put it down in another room - and wouldn't  these be great in hotel rooms too! no need to pack your charger when you go away.  I've never though to IKEA as cutting edge when it comes to technology, but I really like this idea, and the pieces blend in with the home to, they don't look gadgety or techie either which I love.

So far the series consist of  VARV Table lamp,  VARV Floor lamp  RIGGAD Work lamp  NORDLI Bedside table   SELJE Bedside table, all  with wireless charger, then there are the  NORDMÄRKE Single pad with wireless charger and  the NORDMÄRKE Triple pad with wireless charger.
There is also the option to build a wireless charger into your furniture and worktops, the JYSSEN Wireless charger seen below.

Available from Mid April in stores and online, but you will need a smartphone that supports wireless charging (Qi) check your phone for detail, it may just need switching on.

New Decorating Book from IKEA.

I like to keep my old IKEA catalogs, I find them great for inspiration  and ideas for styling the home, but I also have a few of their decorating books too, which I love, particularly the books that explore peoples homes and how they live and style IKEA products with other items and furnishings.   So I was a little excited to  hear that IKEA are releasing a new home decorating book in April,  (Not sure when this will be launched in the UK),   the book will be focusing on storage solutions within the home and visits eight families with interesting lives and decor styles.   I for one cant wait!

Beautifully styled for IKEA.

I'm a huge fan of IKEA and all the effort that goes into styling the room sets that you see when you pay a visit there, and I could quite happily take up residence in one of those rooms sets, but lets face it, when it comes to our own interiors, unless you are completely obsessive about them, chances are you don't have every item in your home from the fab Swedish store, and this is why I love the LIFE AT HOME website, I like to see true to life styling tips that can be used in our own homes with the stuff we already have, plus some carefully selected IKEA items, because while I love those rooms sets you see in store, I want my Ikea purchases to blend in with my home, and hopefully reflect my tastes as well.  I love the relaxed styling in the photos below, (styled by bloggers and stylist I know),
but we all have little piles  of clutter and books around the home  that would benefit from a little styling.

Pella Hedeby, interior designer / stylist for Life At Home

I love how stylist Pella Hedeby has topped off a little pile of books with a small side lamp, and added some fairy lights gently draped over the clip board, then placed a selection of items together in the bowl to keep them all together, a home for everything.

In the above collection of photos by Johanna Bradford, its all about collections, collections of books, and bottles grouped together, with the added benefit of a basket for storage of things you don't want on display, practical and aesthetically pleasing.

In this photo above styled by Frida Eklund Edman, I just love the collection of twigs and feathers in a glass vase, so simple yet so eye catching.
